Senior POWER Systems Admin (Hardware/VIOS/AIX)

Our Enterprise Information Technology - IBM Systems Engineering team is seeking an IBM POWER Systems Virtualization Administrator to join a highly skilled team overseeing our IBM POWER Systems environment. This role will assist with installations, upgrades, performance management/reporting and incident management within this environment, as well as identifying and implementing new areas to innovate or automate. This is a highly engaged team with proactive, collaborative problem solvers. There will be opportunities to learn new skills including POWERVC, Shared Storage Pool clustering, automation, and performance monitoring tools.
This position may be worked remotely within the United States, with the exception of California.
The salary range for this position is $88,650 - $125,000 and will be determined based on location and experience level.

What you’ll be responsible for:
- Designs and architects POWER Systems infrastructure/Virtualization solutions.
- Implements POWER Systems networks, such as LAN, WAN, Internet and/or data networks.
- Proposes and implements system enhancements (software and hardware updates) that will improve the performance and reliability of the system.
- Monitors systems for optimum performance and availability.
- Installs, configures and maintains systems.
- Troubleshoots and resolves customer and internally-reported system problems.
- Implements and monitors corporate security policies.
- Participates in on-call 24x7 support rotation.
- Manages and performs essential functions required for effective system backup, patching, upgrades and restore testing.
- Manages and performs periodic recovery testing of DR plans.
- May assist support groups with Operating Systems and/or applications installed on various servers.
- Evaluates emerging and existing technology solutions and provides recommendations that drive operational efficiency, scalability, and business value.
- Performs limited staff supervision of technical objectives.
- Assists less experienced peers.
- After-hours work for maintenance window work as needed.
- May perform other job duties as assigned.
What you’ll need to have:
- Minimum of 6 years of experience installing and maintaining IBM POWER systems, Virtual I/O Server (VIOS), AIX and Hardware Management Console (HMC).
What would be nice for you to have:
- Experience managing multiple POWER Systems
- Experience managing Dual VIO Servers in an Enterprise Environment
- Experience with Live Partition Mobility
- Experience utilizing External Storage arrays connected to POWER Systems Servers.
- Experience with AIX scripting
- Experience with POWERVC and shared storage pools
- Experience with Ansible, Chef, Puppet, or other automation tools.
- Bachelor’s degree.
