As a Senior Manager of Software Engineering: Site Reliability Engineering at Jack Henry, you’ll have the opportunity to drive innovation and build platforms that will help financial institutions innovate faster, differentiate strategically, and advocate for their members and communities. You’ll collaborate cross functionally with a diverse team of engineers, architects, leaders, product managers and customers to ensure we deliver high quality software that meets the needs of our users.

Our engineers manage cloud and/or on-prem solutions and are responsible for writing clean, maintainable code, implementing new features, resolving bugs, and fostering collaboration within the team. Successful engineers will have strong technical skills and effective grasp of software design principles, object-oriented programming concepts, and testing methodologies. Depending on the product group areas you contribute to, you'll have the opportunity to code in various modern languages and leverage cutting edge tools such as Scala, C#, Java, Ruby, Kotlin, Objective-C, Swift, Go, Docker, Kubernetes, Swagger/OpenAPI, Node.js, Redis, Postgres, Azure, Google Cloud (GCP) and more.

Enterprise Information Technology (EIT) organization is expanding, and we are seeking a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to help drive a major architectural modernization. In this role, you will move beyond traditional infrastructure maintenance to build a proactive, engineering-led ecosystem across our large-scale multi-cloud and co-location footprint. 

Working closely with cross-functional IT teams and business units, you will help design and implement standards for our hybrid cloud datacenter model. A primary focus of this position will be the architectural redesign, optimization, and migration of legacy on-premises workloads into Google Cloud Platform (GCP), ensuring everything we build adheres to rigorous SRE principles. 

Mission & Impact: 

  • Everything as Code: Drive repository-led management across our public and private cloud environments to establish consistency and eliminate manual configuration drift. 
  • Engineering over Toil: Heavily leverage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to automate repetitive tasks, build smooth "paved roads" for product teams, and develop self-healing systems. 
  • SLO-Driven Architecture: Help shift our operational focus from traditional component monitoring to user-facing symptoms, defining meaningful SLOs and error budgets. 
  • Modernization & Migration: Lead the technical execution of re-architecting and redeploying on-premises services into GCP, ensuring scalability, performance, and long-term reliability. 

This position may be worked remotely within the United States, with the exception of California.

What you’ll be responsible for:

Through your leadership team and technical leads: 

  • Drive Infrastructure Modernization: Plan and lead the evolution of our large-scale multi-cloud and co-location footprint, moving from legacy maintenance to a proactive, engineering-led model. 
  • Ensure Production Reliability: Establish SLOs, error budgets, and robust testing frameworks, ensuring all infrastructure-as-code (IaC) configurations and cloud solutions meet scalability and reliability standards before production release. 
  • Evaluate Architectural & Cost Feasibility: Assess the practicality and financial efficiency of infrastructure initiatives, balancing technical requirements with GCP optimization and strategic cloud spend. 
  • Foster Talent & SRE Culture: Provide consistent leadership, mentorship, and direction to Senior and Staff SREs; set clear objectives, champion a blameless culture, and guide professional career development. 
  • Champion Technology Governance: Serve on Architecture and Technology Review Committees to advocate for SRE principles, hybrid cloud roadmaps, and standardized platform engineering practices. 
  • Oversee Platform Architecture: Guide the availability, performance, and monitoring of the core technical architecture, ensuring robust user-facing applications and back-end systems. 
  • Capacity Planning & Project Forecasting: Forecast long-term infrastructure needs, manage resource allocation, and determine capitalization for major multi-cloud migration projects. 
  • Integrates Security & Compliance: Embed DevSecOps principles across the organization, ensuring all automated deployments and cloud environments adhere to strict security and data protection standards. 
  • Industry Engagement: Participate in or prepare for relevant technology conferences and internal summits to stay ahead of modern infrastructure and SRE trends. 
  • Perform other strategic leadership duties as assigned. 

What you’ll need to have:

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in cloud and hybrid datacenter operations with a focus on Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and Site Reliability Engineering.
  • Minimum of 4 years of previous management experience.  

What would be nice for you to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science Information Technology, Engineering.
  • Relevant industry certifications. Google Associate Cloud Engineer or Google Cloud Architect preferred.
  • Proficient inArgoCDandGitOps, Terraform and Ansible.
  • Familiarity with SQL and NoSQL databases.
  • Experience with Open Telemetry tooling and alerting such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, et al.
  • Extensive Experience with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles, including but not limited to Service Level Objectives (SLO) and Service Level Indicators (SLI), TOIL Reduction, Automation, and Root Cause Analysis.
