As a .Net C# Software Engineer at Jack Henry, you’ll have the opportunity to drive innovation and build platforms that will help financial institutions innovate faster, differentiate strategically, and advocate for their members and communities. You’ll collaborate cross functionally with a diverse team of engineers, architects, leaders, product managers and customers to ensure we deliver high quality software that meets the needs of our users.

Our engineers manage cloud and/or on-prem solutions and are responsible for writing clean, maintainable code, implementing new features, resolving bugs, and fostering collaboration within the team. Successful engineers will have strong technical skills and effective grasp of software design principles, object-oriented programming concepts, and testing methodologies. Depending on the product group areas you contribute to, you'll have the opportunity to code in various modern languages and leverage cutting edge tools such as Scala, C#, Java, Ruby, Kotlin, Objective-C, Swift, Go, Docker, Kubernetes, Swagger/OpenAPI, Node.js, Redis, Postgres, Azure, Google Cloud (GCP) and more.

This is a full time, fully remote position for an experienced C# .NET Backend Developer with hands on online payment integration experience. In this role, you will design, develop, and maintain backend API applications and batch processing systems. You'll collaborate closely with a team of engineers to deliver high performance, scalable, and secure solutions that meet evolving customer and business needs.

This position may be worked remotely within the United States, with the exception of California.

What you’ll be responsible for: 

  • You’ll join the Payment Processing team to shape critical systems used by customers every day.
  • You’ll work with a modern tech stack—including .NET, MySQL, cloud‑based architectures, and emerging AI tools—to build smarter, faster, and more reliable solutions.
  • Define or refine standards for the design and development of API and backend processes. 
  • Designing and developing backend processes using .NET C# and MySQL based on business requirements.
  • Working closely with developers, QA, operations, and leadership throughout analysis, design, development, testing, deployment, and production support.
  • Building and testing payment processing software that follow best practices and deliver reliable performance.
  • Preparing test plans and clear technical documentation.
  • Performing unit, integration, regression testing, and monitoring to ensure quality.
  • Following established development standards and contributing to ongoing process improvements.
  • Provide on-call production support, investigating technical issues and delivering effective solutions.
  • Participating in daily Agile stand‑ups and collaborating in an iterative development environment.

What you’ll need to have: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 6+ years of software development experience, including 3+ years building APIs in .NET/C# and working with relational database stored procedures and functions.
  • Strong experience in API design, stored procedure development, batch programming and SQL performance tuning.
  • Experience leveraging AI tools and techniques to enhance software development, testing, and maintenance workflows.
  • Familiarity with Orleans (Microsoft Orleans framework).
  • Ability to translate business requirements into database changes and high‑quality API solutions.
  • Experience defining test cases, documenting results, and supporting integration automation.
  • Solid understanding of relational database design and physical implementation.
  • Skilled in diagnosing API issues, performing root‑cause analysis, and optimizing SQL performance.

What would be nice for you to have: 

  • Strong proficiency in backend API development and batch programming.
  • Extensive experience with C# and the .NET ecosystem.
  • Proven experience integrating online payment systems and working with banking and payment gateways.
  • Experience leveraging AI tools and techniques to enhance software development, testing, and maintenance workflows.
  • Familiarity with Orleans (Microsoft Orleans framework).
  • Solid understanding of Object Oriented Programming (OOP) principles and best practices.
  • Excellent analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency with MySQL and SQL Server, including database schema design.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
