At Jack Henry, we believe a stronger United States starts with thriving community banks and credit unions—institutions that prioritize people over accounts. Our mission is to empower these financial institutions with best-in-class digital banking and payment solutions, designed to enhance and streamline the user experience. We invite you to be part of this journey.

At its core, Jack Henry is a company built on relationships. Every interaction we have strengthens connections that shape our work, communities, and economy in profound ways. We seek individuals eager to tackle complex challenges in an industry undergoing rapid transformation, bringing innovation and stability to a time of disruption and change.

About the Team

Our Infrastructure Core Services teams are focused on delivering compute, network, data, secrets management and workload orchestration in the cloud. The core teams spearhead the migration of workload from on-premise data centers to GCP. We partner with our infrastructure platform teams to deliver pipelines, identity, observability, tooling and security within the platform. We partner with product engineering teams to build performant, scalable, and secure services that are responsible for transactions, payments, deposits, transfers, auth, and platform integrations.

We want our organization to be one that supports, challenges, and motivates you to build strong, dynamic connections with your coworkers. We promote a hardworking, highly communicative, flexible, and transparent culture. How well work integrates with your life is an important quality of a healthy individual and organization. In the world of remote work that is always on and always connected we pay attention to providing margin and space for the things you hold dear.
As an Infrastructure Engineer, you will participate in the technical design and implementation of new products or enhancements to existing applications, based on business requirements. This role participates in all phases of the development cycle: concept, technical design, prototype, code development, testing, release to QA and implementation. This position requires cross functional collaboration.

This position may be worked remotely within the United States, with the exception of California.

This position is ineligible for immigration sponsorship and support. Please do not apply if at any time you will need immigration support now or in the future (i.e., H-1B, PERM).

The salary range for this position is $80,350- $142,700 and will be determined based on location and experience level.

All positions, regardless of location, may require an onsite interview or in-person onboarding requirement to verify your identity.

What you’ll be responsible for:

  • Working on project-sized tasks and setting and updating expectations on size, scope, and timelines; able to work autonomously on smaller tasks, and able to collaborate effectively on larger ones.
  • Understanding the impact of changes across systems and teams, factoring in scale, reliability, and user impact.
  • Regular written and verbal communication, collaboration, and feedback, including asking questions and sharing knowledge.
  • Helping shape team direction and priorities.
  • Planning and delivering complex projects with multi-team dependencies.
  • Encouraging experimentation and learning from failure. Guiding others in their growth paths.
  • Thinking critically about long-term technical direction within a domain.
  • Contributing to roadmap conversations.
  • Developing as a “subject matter expert” in two or more domains or features that our team supports, with strong understanding of both technical and business impacts.
  • Participating in an on-call rotation, and being able to assess when to ask for help.

What you’ll need to have:

  • Minimum of 4 years of technical experience in software development.
  • Experience managing infrastructure in GCP, or similar cloud provider, using Infrastructure as Code.
  • Experience with Kubernetes and Terraform.
  • Problem-solving skills – if you don’t know the answer, you’ll figure it out.
  • Strong, thoughtful judgement in your usage of AI tools, with an avoidance of “slop” and a desire to understand what is generated. You see AI as a tool to augment your learning and development, not a replacement.
  • Experience working in a remote environment.

What would be nice for you to have:

  • Experience in a customer service or customer-facing role (internal or external customers).
  • Experience with Golang.
  • Experience with Argo.
  • Knowledge of network architecture.
  • Experience managing IBM HashiCorp Vault clusters.
  • Experience with Pub/Sub, Kafka, or event-driven architecture in general.
  • Experience with migrating VM based workloads to containerized workloads.
  • Experience coordinating projects across teams.
  • Dedication to a blameless culture.

If you got this far, we hope you're feeling excited about this opportunity. Even if you don't feel you meet every single requirement on this posting, we still encourage you to apply. We’re looking for passionate, driven individuals who align with our mission and can bring unique perspectives to our team.
