As a Data Engineer III at Jack Henry, you’ll have the opportunity to drive innovation and build platforms that will help financial institutions innovate faster, differentiate strategically, and advocate for their members and communities. You’ll collaborate cross functionally with a diverse team of engineers, architects, leaders, product managers and customers to ensure we deliver high quality software that meets the needs of our users.

Our engineers manage cloud and/or on-prem solutions and are responsible for writing clean, maintainable code, implementing new features, resolving bugs, and fostering collaboration within the team. Successful engineers will have strong technical skills and effective grasp of software design principles, object-oriented programming concepts, and testing methodologies. Depending on the product group areas you contribute to, you'll have the opportunity to code in various modern languages and leverage cutting edge tools such as Scala, C#, Java, Ruby, Kotlin, Objective-C, Swift, Go, Docker, Kubernetes, Swagger/OpenAPI, Node.js, Redis, Postgres, Azure, Google Cloud (GCP) and more.

Our Digital group is seeking a Data Engineer to join our Installation Development team. Install Development’s mission is to create and maintain the tools used by the Digital Install teams.

This is a remote position and candidates must live within approximately a 70-mile radius of our office locations in Allen, TX; Lenexa, KS; Springfield, MO; or Monett, MO.

All positions, regardless of location, may require an onsite interview or in-person onboarding requirement to verify your identity. 

What you'll be responsible for: 

  • Create and optimize scripts used to complete conversion and deconversion data migration efforts using T-SQL and C#.
  • Identify opportunities to automate setup, conversion and deconversion processes and implementing with the direction of peers and management.
  • Ensure data management, customer compliance and security best practices are followed in all work efforts.
  • Complete product technical design and prototyping, development, bug verification and resolution.  
  • Perform issue analysis and resolution by collaborating with other Install groups to determine the extent of the issue, it’s expected results, and creating the scripts to fix it.  Then determine what existing or new processes need to be changed to fix it for other installs going forward.
  • Ensure timely, effective, and quality delivery of software into production.
  • Create required technical documentation.
  • Coordinate with other teams to ensure duties are completed on-time and accurately.
  • Manage and prioritize multiple tasks and remain flexible to changing requirements.

What you'll need to have:

  • Minimum of 4 years of programming experience in T-SQL or SQL. 
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server (SSMS).
  • Experience in troubleshooting data inconsistencies. 
  • Must be able to travel up to 5% for trainings and meetings. 

What would be nice for you to have: 

  • Experience in C#, PostgreSQL.
  • Experience in GitHub.
  • Experience in Visual Studios
  • Experience with GCP cloud.

General knowledge in the following areas:

  • Install and implementation experience.  
  • All phases of the development cycle including concept, technical design, code development, testing, and implementation. 

Able to demonstrate skills in the following areas:

  • SQL comprehension
  • Research, analysis and issue resolution.
  • Communication.
