Jack Henry is seeking a highly experienced and skilled Accounting Supervisor to join the Finance & Facilities’ External Reporting team. The External Reporting team is responsible for Jack Henry’s SEC reporting of 10-Ks, 10-Qs, and 8-Ks, assisting the legal team with Section 16 reporting and sections of the annual proxy statement, and assisting the investor relations team with populating and reviewing earnings call scripts; the processing and accounting for the company’s share-based compensation and other payroll and benefit plans, including ESPP (Employee Stock Purchase Plan); and understanding and maintaining the external reporting and share-based compensation software tools used at the company.
The Accounting Supervisor will assist in researching, communicating, and preparing standard and specialized reports in accordance with GAAP and SEC regulations for use in SEC reporting as required for public companies; analyze the consolidated profit and loss statement, as needed; understand and back up the share-based compensation award and release processes, as well as other administrative activities related to the plans; assist in administering and accounting for the company’s ESPP; understand, research, and answer inquiries related to the automated entries and manual accounting required for the company’s payroll processes; utilize and understand the external reporting and share-based compensation software tools used at the company and work with the software vendor support staff, as required, to resolve accounting and/or reporting issues; create and review journal entries; and reconcile and review balance sheet accounts related to the company’s share-based compensation, other benefit plans and deductions, and other items, as required. To be successful, this individual will need to be a self-starter, have a passion for process efficiency, and have excellent supervisory people skills. This role requires unwavering accuracy and the ability to collaborate effectively with leadership peers, as well as a very detail-oriented individual with deep analytical skills.
This position will be filled to work a Hybrid schedule at any of the following Jack Henry office locations: Monett, MO / Springfield, MO / Allen, TX or Lenexa, KS and you are required to go into the office once a week for onsite collaboration, meetings, events, and or training.
The target salary range for this position is $65,900 – $90,000 based on experience and location.
What you'll be responsible for:
- Review and oversee work submitted by accountants and manage accounting close processes.
- Oversee activities related to month-end, quarter-end, and/or year-end closings.
- Ensure organizational adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) or other accounting standards.
- Oversee the preparation of reconciliations that tie to our general ledger balances with variances researched and timely resolved.
- Signoff as reconciliation reviewer on account reconciliations.
- Review and oversee the preparation of analysis and reporting.
- Provide staff guidance in best practices or in escalation of questions and concerns.
- Assist managers in problem solving areas and staff work prioritization.
- Respond to Audit or Sox control requests; review requests that are prepared by staff.
- Ensure that policy and procedure documentation is written and maintained.
- Staff team building, inclusion, accountability, and engagement.
- Set staff performance targets and complete performance review and assessments.
- May assist with hiring and firing decisions.
- May perform other job duties as assigned.
What you'll need to have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Must have a minimum of 6 years of combination experience in any of the following categories: general financial accounting, general ledger, journal entries, month/quarter-end close, and experience in the audit of or financial reporting for a public, private, or not-for-profit organization.
- Experience leading audits, projects and or a team.
- Intermediate to advanced Excel experience (extensive formulas and pivot tables).
- Must be able to work weekends and evenings to support quarterly reporting timelines as needed.
- Must be able to work with confidential materials and associate information (including compensation at all levels of the company) and always maintain confidentiality.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Very strong attention to detail and unwavering accuracy.
- Able to meet aggressive deadlines and due dates.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills.
- Must be able to travel up to 5% to attend Jack Henry meetings, trainings, or professional conferences.
What would be nice for you to have:
- Masters in Accounting or Business and/or CPA or other accounting or finance-related credential(s).
- Experience using Workiva or another SEC filing software.
- Experience using Morgan Stanley at Work’s Equity Edge Online or another share-based compensation software.
- SEC reporting experience.
- Share-based compensation or ESPP/ESOP (employee stock purchase/employee stock option plan) accounting or administration experience.
- Corporate equity or compensation and benefits accounting experience.
