This hands-on role offers the opportunity to work alongside experienced professionals while gaining practical skills in grounds maintenance, basic facilities support, and equipment operation. It’s a great fit for someone who enjoys working outdoors, takes pride in maintaining clean and well-kept spaces, and is eager to learn new skills.
Location: Monett, Missouri (Onsite)
Schedule: Approximately 5:30 AM – 2:00 PM (30-minute lunch; some flexibility available)
Duration: Summer apprenticeship (flexible start and end dates based on availability)
Pay: Starting at $17/hour
What You’ll Do
As a Facilities Summer Apprentice, you will:
- Perform general grounds and facilities maintenance across campus
- Assist with mowing, weed eating, pruning, planting, fertilizing, and leaf collection
- Support light irrigation efforts and general landscape upkeep
- Help clean and maintain work areas, including trash collection
- Assist with internal moves by relocating and arranging furniture, partitions, and equipment
- Learn to operate a variety of groundskeeping and maintenance equipment, such as mowers and utility vehicles
- Follow established procedures and safety guidelines while working closely with team members
- Take on additional duties as assigned to support the facilities team
What You’ll Need to Have
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
- Ability to work outdoors and perform physically active tasks
- Willingness to learn and follow direction in a team environment
What Would Be Nice for You to Have
- Previous exposure to facilities, landscaping, or grounds maintenance work
- Familiarity with basic maintenance areas such as carpentry, electrical, HVAC, or plumbing
- Interest in learning how to operate equipment such as mowers, utility vehicles, tractors, forklifts, or skid steers
(Note: Prior experience is not required—training will be provided.)
