The Senior Automation Engineer works independently to design, build, and maintain advanced automated testing frameworks that ensure quality throughout the entire software development lifecycle. They guide products from early concept through production by embedding automation into prototyping, test creation, and continuous integration practices. The role requires close collaboration across teams, particularly in system analysis efforts focused on testability, scalability, and delivering high‑quality software.


They lead the creation and enhancement of automation frameworks, ensuring they are robust, maintainable, and aligned with business and industry standards. The engineer evaluates how code changes affect both users and internal systems, maintains high levels of script reliability by reviewing work from junior team members, and supports overall quality engineering efforts. Working closely with DevOps and development teams, they integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and help manage expectations around release readiness and test coverage.


The role includes defining automation standards, producing essential documentation, and staying informed about emerging QA technologies to recommend improvements. The engineer independently troubleshoots complex issues across environments or automation scripts and leads unit, integration, and end‑to‑end testing to ensure system security and stability. They also contribute strategically by participating in product architecture discussions, promoting test‑driven development, and ensuring long-term maintainability throughout each application’s lifecycle.


This position is a hybrid role requiring at least 2 days per week in the Allen, TX office location. 


The target salary range for this position is $92,100 – $125,000, based on experience and location. 


What you'll be responsible for: 

  • Performs and may lead system analysis and programming activities which may require research and timely, effective, and quality delivery of software into production. 
  • Performs, and may lead, technical/engineering support for new and existing applications from code delivery until the retirement of the application. 
  • Develops, tests and reviews applications based on business requirements and industry best practices. 
  • Uses best practices and standard guidance to create and modify code. Considers how code changes will affect end users and internal teams. May review code created by less experienced team members. 
  • Collaborates with QA team to ensure timely delivery of high-quality products. 
  • Performs, and may lead, work with cross-team as projects dictate. 
  • Works on, and may lead, critical tasks and deliverables with no assistance, and sets and updates expectations on size, scope, and timelines. 
  • Participates in and may lead team in cross-functional meetings and discussions. 
  • Creates required technical documentation. 
  • Stays updated with emerging technologies and industry trends, recommending innovative solutions to improve software development processes. 
  • Adheres to documented departmental and corporate standards. Participates in the definition and documentation of standards. 
  • May lead unit tests and integration tests to ensure the reliability, security, and performance of developed software. 
  • Debugs and troubleshoots issues as they arise, providing timely resolutions. · May contribute to product architecture
  • May perform other duties as assigned. 

What you'll need to have: 

  • Minimum of 6 years of technical experience in software development and or quality assurance (C#, Java, Selenium).
  • Must have experience with test automation tools.
  • Must have strong effective communication skills (written and verbal). 
  • Strong problem-solving skills. 
  • Ability to travel up to 5% to attend Jack Henry meetings, trainings, and/or professional conferences.
