The Technical Project Manager Advisor acts independently, ensures that the Technical Project Management team utilizes department, company and industry level project management best practices and processes. Ensures the departmental project management operational processes are used as intended for all technical projects. Accountable for removing impediments to the ability of the team to deliver on departmental goals and deliverables, increasing the likelihood of a project's overall success. Ensures assigned projects are executed according to best practices and procedures.
This position will work 8:00am–5:00pm central time zone hours and can be filled to work remotely from within the U.S.
Ability to travel up to 5% to attend additional onsite customer meetings and/ or training at Jack Henry Office locations.
What you’ll be responsible for:
- Serves as the technical project management implementation framework owner and aids other project managers and those in the department in their pursuit to do everything possible to fulfill customer needs and meet department financial and operational goals.
- Manages a portfolio of complex revenue generating technical implementation projects as assigned.
- All project planning and organization, oversight and tracking according to the department project management framework and overall project management best practices.
- Centralized contact for the project team, Jack Henry Product Groups, 3rd Party Groups, customer and Jack Henry Corporate groups.
- Execution of Contract Management, including contracting review, change control, forecasting, equipment ordering and tracking.
- Escalation point and responsible for issue tracking and escalation
- Guides the team and organization on how to utilize the project management framework and other best project management practices.
- Guides the team on how to get the most of out of self-organization, using self-organization to fill gaps left in the project management framework.
- Assesses the Project Management Maturity of the team and organization, coaching the team to higher levels of maturity, at a pace that is sustainable and comfortable utilizing proven process improvement approaches.
- Responsible for communicating to management, business cases for overall process improvements to the project management framework.
- Responsible for removing impediments to progress and guiding the team to remove impediments.
- Builds a trusting and safe environment where problems can be raised without fear of blame, retribution, or being judged, with an emphasis on process improvement and problem solving.
- Facilitates completion of tasks and goals without using coercion, assigning, or dictating tasks.
- Assists with internal and external communication and improving transparency.
- Provides all team support by utilizing a servant leadership style and leading by example.
- May perform other job duties as assigned.
What you’ll need to have:
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in any of the following roles: project manager, program manager, or project coordinator within an IT role.
- Experience with any of the following: network, IT systems, cloud and virtual technology projects or solutions.
- Experience with at least one of the following: MS Project and/or Excel, and/or Smartsheet
What would be nice for you to have:
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
- Strong knowledge of the financial industry.
- Strong knowledge of JHA products.
- Strong communication and customer interaction skills.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Able to act as a team lead and oversee complex implementations.
- Able to meet deadlines.
