As a Senior Software Engineer: Cloud Microservices at Jack Henry, you’ll have the opportunity to drive innovation and build platforms that will help financial institutions innovate faster, differentiate strategically, and advocate for their members and communities. You’ll collaborate cross functionally with a diverse team of engineers, architects, leaders, product managers and customers to ensure we deliver high quality software that meets the needs of our users.
Our engineers manage cloud and/or on-prem solutions and are responsible for writing clean, maintainable code, implementing new features, resolving bugs, and fostering collaboration within the team. Successful engineers will have strong technical skills and effective grasp of software design principles, object-oriented programming concepts, and testing methodologies. Depending on the product group areas you contribute to, you'll have the opportunity to code in various modern languages and leverage cutting edge tools such as Scala, C#, Java, Ruby, Kotlin, Objective-C, Swift, Go, Docker, Kubernetes, Swagger/OpenAPI, Node.js, Redis, Postgres, Azure, Google Cloud (GCP) and more.

Senior Software Engineer: Cloud Microservices

As part of the Exception Item Processing Delivery Team, you will be at the center of Jack Henry’s Technology Modernization Strategy. In your daily activities as a Senior Software Engineer, you will have the opportunity to be a key contributor on our development team creating new banking applications and shared platform services. You will be using an innovative technology stack as well as engage daily with other Software engineers, DevOps engineers, Product owners, and Business Analysts, on your team and across the organization. The primary programming language is Go, and if you aren’t familiar with it you’ll have a chance to learn as you Go (pun very much intended).

This position can be based to work out of any Jack Henry office or remotely from any US location. The target salary range for this position is $90-145k, based on location and experience. Travel for this role for team meetings and professional development opportunities may be up to 10%.
What you'll be responsible for:
- Writing, testing, and delivering high-quality code to implement product features, enhancements, and bug fixes.
- Collaborating closely with product managers, designers, and fellow engineers to translate product requirements into technical solutions.
- Participating in peer code reviews, providing constructive feedback, and continuously improving the team’s code quality.
- Actively contributing to agile development practices including sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives, and backlog refinement.
- Taking ownership of assigned tasks and proactively ensuring timely delivery of features through effective communication and collaboration with team members.
- Completing product technical design and prototyping, software development, bug verification, and resolution.
- Providing technical/engineering support for new and existing applications from code delivery until the retirement of the application.
- Adhering to documented departmental and corporate standards. Overseeing the definition and documentation of standards. Contributing to defining and improving department processes.
- May perform other duties as assigned.
What you'll need to have:
- A minimum of 6 years of software development experience.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience developing microservices in .NET , C#, and/or Go.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience developing cloud-hosted applications (e.g., Google Cloud Platform).
- Experience with containerization using Kubernetes and CI/CD using either Jenkins or GitHub actions.
What would be nice for you to have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering or Computer Science.
- Experience with Google Cloud Platform.
- Experience with Git-based repositories.
- Experience with Pub/Sub, Kafka, and Eventing in general.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
- SQL and NoSQL (MongoDB) database experience.
- Key Vaults and Certificate Management experience.
