The Senior Graphic Designer creates high-impact designs customized to target specific audiences and drive engagement while aligning with brand guidelines to ensure consistency across all deliverables. In this role, you’ll play a key part in elevating the visual brand identity, and help shape design systems and standards, maximizing effectiveness across all channels under the guidance of Creative leadership. Additionally, the Senior Graphic Designer acts as a design lead on select projects, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and presenting creative concepts and strategies in stakeholder meetings.
This position can be worked remotely within the United States or from our Charlotte, NC office location. Salary range for this position is $70K-$85K, depending on candidate experience and geographic location.
What you’ll be responsible for:
- Create original high-impact designs and layouts that engage with audiences, while also aligning with the brand identity and guidelines to ensure consistency across all deliverables.
- Elevate the visual brand identity, refine creative guidelines, and help shape and apply design systems and standards, maximizing effectiveness across all channels under the guidance of Creative leadership.
- Translate project briefs into innovative ideas and compelling designs for a broad spectrum of marketing and corporate materials, including digital marketing, conference/event materials, signage, social media content, email campaigns, mailers, brochures, web pages, videos, and more.
- Effectively customize ideas, designs, and layouts to target specific audiences, market products and services to drive engagement while adhering to brand and creative guidelines and styles.
- Act as creative lead on assigned projects, overseeing design reviews and coordinating with project managers to ensure efficiency and effectiveness on creative deliverables.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand, strategize, outline, concept, and drive the overall design vision on projects.
- Organize and prioritize assignments on multiple projects simultaneously with project management applications and consistently meet deadlines.
- Develop and present design strategies and concepts, communicating clearly and professionally in stakeholder meetings.
- Be a driving force in brainstorming sessions, contributing to concept development and creative ideation that are forward-thinking and impactful.
- Foster strong partnerships with Marketing team members, as well as other departments within the organization, and represent the Creative team in select high-level meetings and discussions.
- Provide guidance and support via mentorship and design reviews for junior designers, helping them improve their skills.
- Revise work based on feedback from Creative leadership and stakeholders.
- Ensure the application of user-centered design principles and best practices for accessibility in all creative work.
- Propose new ideas and considerations for improving design processes and ways of working to Creative leadership.
- Work closely with in-house print shop to develop print-ready materials and direct third-party vendors as necessary to execute projects.
- Maintain organized project files and documentation, while also following file backup conventions set by Creative leadership.
- Use expertise of design and digital marketing best practices to optimize impact and increase visibility.
- Stay current on graphic design trends, applications, and tools, and make recommendations for changes that may benefit the department.
- May be required to provide presentation design.
- May be required to learn and apply new design software and tools and teach other designers.
- May perform other job duties as assigned.
What you’ll need to have:
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in a graphic design role at advertising agencies, design studios, and/or in-house creative teams.
- 10% travel required.
What would be nice for you to have:
- Proven track record collaborating with creative and strategy teams to conceptualize and execute successful integrated marketing campaigns.
- Deep understanding of branding and the ability to influence brand strategy with design that drives results.
- Strong experience working through all phases of creative production as a designer – from brainstorming and concepting to design and delivery of final creative files.
- Ability and desire to work in a fast-paced environment under tight deadlines with excellent project and time management skills.
- Ability to follow through and complete overlapping projects with minimal supervision while maintaining high-quality output.
- Excellent design and layout skills for both print and digital marketing tactics.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills including presentation skills.
- Significant experience working with copywriters and an understanding of how copy and design co-exist.
- Must be adept at following direction from stakeholders and working in a collaborative environment.
- Keeps current on creative industry and marketing trends to generate ideas, create compelling original designs, and guide creative strategy.
- Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch and/or Figma, Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Teams) and other relevant design and communication tools.
- A passion for design and its power to improve the customer experience.
- Experience designing within established and evolving brand guidelines.
- Attention to detail in all areas of work.
- Outstanding portfolio showcasing successful creative work across a range of tactics and published work.
- Proficient with technology and adapting to working with new platforms and apps including video conferencing and project management apps.
- Experience designing for motion graphics and video is preferred.
- Knowledge of the financial and/or technology industries preferred.
- B2B marketing experience is preferred.
