As a Data Engineer III: Payments at Jack Henry, you’ll have the opportunity to drive innovation and build platforms that will help financial institutions innovate faster, differentiate strategically, and advocate for their members and communities. You’ll collaborate cross functionally with a diverse team of engineers, architects, leaders, product managers and customers to ensure we deliver high quality software that meets the needs of our users.
Our engineers manage cloud and/or on-prem solutions and are responsible for writing clean, maintainable code, implementing new features, resolving bugs, and fostering collaboration within the team. Successful engineers will have strong technical skills and effective grasp of software design principles, object-oriented programming concepts, and testing methodologies. Depending on the product group areas you contribute to, you'll have the opportunity to code in various modern languages and leverage cutting edge tools such as Scala, C#, Java, Ruby, Kotlin, Objective-C, Swift, Go, Docker, Kubernetes, Swagger/OpenAPI, Node.js, Redis, Postgres, Azure, Google Cloud (GCP) and more.

Data Engineer III: Payments

The Data Engineer III oversees and expands the systems we use to gather, store, retrieve and analyze data on how customers are using JH products.
The salary range for this position is $78,400 - $110,000, depending on candidate experience and location.
This position can work remote from within the United States.
What you’ll be responsible for:
- Identifies opportunities to automate data engineering processes and executes with direction of peers and management.
- Maintains and improves the quality of data for all systems.
- Ensures data management best practices are followed in all work efforts.
- Documents all activities on how to support data engineering processes.
- Coordinates with other teams to ensure duties are completed on-time and accurately.
- Adheres to internal and client related compliance and security standards with all activities.
- Define best practices for data platform implementations.
- Create observability, implementation, monitoring, and alerting solutions for data platforms.
- Design data solutions for business units and software engineering teams.
- Develop and support data pipelines.
- Support and enhance existing and future report delivery solutions.
- Ensure data solutions meet security and audit requirements.
- May perform other duties as assigned.
What you’ll need to have:
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in data engineering
- Proficient on Cloud Platforms – AWS experience required.
- Demonstrated experience with SSIS and other ETL Toolsets
- Demonstrated experience with SSRS AND SQL Server
What would be nice for you to have:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Experience with automation of manual and process driven systems.
- Working knowledge to support a geographically distributed multi-product software ecosystem.
- Strong working knowledge of Relational Database Concepts.
- Understands and follows data manipulation best practices. Able to set and refine new practices.
- Experience automating tasks with tools such as Powershell.
- Highly proficient with data cleansing and standardization best practices.
- Excellent communication and customer interaction skills.
- Strong project management skills.
- Assists team leadership and senior team members to plan, prioritize and organize a diversified workload.
- Able to multi-task and resolve issues.
- Understand the need to regard confidential customer and company information with the highest regard.
- Meets Deadlines and demonstrates the ability to deliver under pressure.
- Relational databases, MySQL, Aurora-MySQL, SQL Server
- Knowledge and experience working with data solutions in cloud providers such as AWS and Azure
- Knowledge in writing infrastructure as code through products like Terraform.
- Strong analytic skills related to working with structured and unstructured datasets.
- Knowledge of programming languages such as Python, C#, or. NET core
- Strong project management and organizational skills.
- Experience or knowledge of Agile Software Development processes
- Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills
- Process oriented with great documentation skills
