Senior Network Engineer

As a Senior Network Engineer at Jack Henry, you’ll have the opportunity to drive innovation and build platforms that will help financial institutions innovate faster, differentiate strategically, and advocate for their members and communities. You’ll collaborate cross functionally with a diverse team of engineers, architects, leaders, product managers and customers to ensure we deliver high quality software that meets the needs of our users.

Our engineers manage cloud and/or on-prem solutions and are responsible for writing clean, maintainable code, implementing new features, resolving bugs, and fostering collaboration within the team. Successful engineers will have strong technical skills and effective grasp of software design principles, object-oriented programming concepts, and testing methodologies. Depending on the product group areas you contribute to, you'll have the opportunity to code in various modern languages and leverage cutting edge tools such as Scala, C#, Java, Ruby, Kotlin, Objective-C, Swift, Go, Docker, Kubernetes, Swagger/OpenAPI, Node.js, Redis, Postgres, Azure, Google Cloud (GCP) and more.

Senior Network Engineer

We’re looking for a Senior Network Engineer to help us shape the future of bill pay and payments!  We are a driven, creative, and energetic team that works in a flexible and agile fashion to deliver world-class products to the financial market that are used by millions of end users every day.

Payrailz’s DevOps organization is responsible for the platform delivery and CI/CD pipelines of our critical product lines. They automate applications, API’s, and services.  The team drives, designs, and implements our DevOps methodology and infrastructure automation.

As a Network Engineer on the DevOps Team, you will be responsible for the build, deploy, monitor and scaling of resources to deliver the Payrailz platform. You will be empowered to identify and drive opportunities to improve automation for deployment, management, and tooling. You’ll stay up to date on the latest development and deployment technologies and bring the latest tools and techniques to achieve optimal results and SLA’s.

This position will be hired to work remotely within the United States.

What you’ll be responsible for:

  • Create, configure, and maintain network communications tunnels between the Payrailz platform and all customers.
  • Provide phone support to customers, both technical and non-technical, to assist in customer configuration and testing.
  • Install current network operating system on new or existing devices and/or install communication equipment including routers, switches and firewalls. 
  • Install software on networking devices. 
  • Analyze network topologies to determine potential issues and makes suggestions for recommended changes. 
  • Create network assessments and certifications. 
  • Assist and mentor less experienced peers. 
  • Troubleshoot connectivity issues when needed.
  • Prepare statements of work relative to upcoming network installations and general preparations for installations. 
  • Collaborate with multiple teams to prioritize work and provide status to stakeholders.
  • May perform other job duties as assigned.

What you’ll need to have:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in network engineering.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience of cloud environments, such as AWS, GCP and Azure.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience creating and maintaining IPSec tunnels.
  • Must be able to travel up to 5% for trainings and meetings. 

What would be nice for you to have:

  • Experience with Palo Alto firewalls.
  • Bachelor’s degree. 
  • Familiar with Agile/Scrum Development frameworks.
  • Experience with Jira.
  • Knowledge of regulatory and compliance best practices in regards to network security.
  • Familiar with payment infrastructures within a financial institution setting.
