SUMMARY

Jack Henry & Associates is seeking a Programmer Analyst for their Birmingham, AL location.  Other available locations: Springfield, MO, Monett, MO, Allen, TX or REMOTE.

Are you looking for an opportunity to use your RPG programming skills to support high-profile products like one of JHA’s main core banking teller systems?  If so, the Programmer Analyst position may be perfect for you!  This position is part of a Banking Operations Administration team that provides operational and technical support to in-house and outsourced customers.  This team provides programming support and custom coding solutions to the Vertex Teller software.   You will be part of a team of 7 programmers who mostly focus on maintenance programming, bug and defect fixes, custom code development, assisting customers with Vertex support, installs and releases using RPG programming.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of five years of experience with RPG programming
  • Able to participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation including after-hours support

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree Preferred
  • Knowledge of the financial industry strongly preferred
  • SoftLanding Turnover experience strongly preferred
  • Embedded SQL experience preferred
  • Experience working with data queues is preferred
  • Experience working with RPG file encapsulation is preferred

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Develops programming code for new and/or existing software
  • Troubleshoots and debugs existing code.
  • Tests code and fixes to ensure quality.
  • Learns the system architecture and is involved in providing software updates and support to our customer during the initial learning phase of Provides programming support for various interfaces.
  • Assists in keeping customers informed of all enhancements, troubleshooting, and fixes; may assist the customer in determining if and how system enhancements may improve process flow and business function.   
  • Creates all internal programming documentation; may include defining the system and functional requirements of the product.
  • May complete project bids and/or work effort estimates. Interacts with customers to gather system requirements. 
  • Mentors, trains, develops and provides support to less experienced co-workers.
