Job Description

Are you someone that has a passion for maintenance, construction projects and workplace improvements?  If this sounds like you, then the Birmingham, AL Corporate Facilities Group at Jack Henry & Associates is looking to hire a Facilities Specialist.  This candidate will work on a small team at Jack Henry locations throughout Alabama.  We are seeking a hardworking, detail orientated candidate who likes working on a team, but yet can complete projects on your own.  You must be willing to handle small help desk tickets such as changing out a light bulb to handling large scale projects such as construction and data center management activities.  This is much more than just a maintenance role but a blend of project management and facilities maintenance. 

A typical day may include; assigning, working and closing helpdesk cases that involve anything from light bulb changes to HVAC and preventative workplace issues; coordination with other JHA departments and outside vendors; working with JHA build systems such as AutoCAD and CAFM (Computer Aided Facility Management); coordinating overnight preventative maintenance; and other various assignments.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must have a minimum of 4 years of experience in facilities maintenance.
  • Must be able to be on-call 24/7, work Monday – Friday and after hours or weekends as needed.
  • Must be able to travel up to 40%.  Travel may consist of small day trips between Birmingham and Hoover to support their facilities.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Trade School Certifications such as HVAC, Licensed Electrician, etc.
  • Experience using AutoCAD preferred.
  • Experience using CAFM software.
  • Prior experience using Microsoft Project.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Perform general maintenance and repair duties including light carpentry, basic electrical, HVAC, and grounds maintenance.
  • Assists other Facilities Maintenance Specialists or outside contractors with electrical, carpentry, plumbing, and HVAC maintenance and servicing.
  • Maintains schedule of required maintenance and inspection of building equipment and systems.
  • Assists with scheduling and training of less experienced facilities maintenance specialists.
  • Must be able to evaluate pricing and participate in the budgeting process for both Operations and Capital Expenditure Projects.  (BASIC Excel skills)
  • Oversees specialized outside contractors.
  • Performs tasks that utilize formal training in one or more trades.
