Server Administrator

Who We Are Looking For:

You are self-motivated with a proven track record in enterprise systems administration, specifically Window Server. You like working in a collaborative, team environment; but are also capable of completing projects on time and on your own, when needed. You look for areas to improve processes and procedures and work well in a cross-functional capacity. You like to learn and evangelize new technologies. You are comfortable educating and training others on Server Administration and best practices.

Our team resides in the Technology Operations department, which primarily supports the JHA infrastructure, and is responsible for the health of all servers within the enterprise. Systems Operations is a team of less than 20 people with members in multiple JHA locations.

There is in an on-call rotation and minimal travel required to quarterly and annual team meetings, trainings, etc.

What You’ll Do:

  • Monitor the health of virtual and physical servers in JHA data centers.
  • Responsible for the entire server life-cycle (provision, configure, deploy, support, and decommission).
  • Help drive current solutions and engineer new ones for the various aspects of server administration: optimization, governance, security and identity, etc.
  • Be an evangelist and help drive the culture of continual compliance and automation within the department and the organization.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • 18 months experience in Windows Server Administration

 PREFERRED SKILLS

  • RedHat Linux knowledge preferred
  • Applicable industry standard certification(s) preferred.
  • Chef application experience preferred

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Monitors systems for optimum performance and availability.
  • Installs, configures and maintains servers.
  • Implements system enhancements (software and hardware updates) that will improve the performance and reliability of the system.
  • Troubleshoots and resolves customer and internally-reported system problems.
  • Implements and monitors corporate security policies.
  • Documents and implements system procedures, policies and events.
  • Participates in on-call 24x7 support rotation.
  • Performs periodic recovery testing of DR plans.
  • May manage data access and data permissions.
  • Assists in managing user accounts.
  • May assist support groups with applications installed on servers.
